Record Breakers On behalf of Clonmel
Athletic Club well done on creating a record entry for the 4k series, it is the
first time we got over 100 athletes to compete in this series,
we had 107 athletes competing last night and well done, fantastic. The night
was ideal and we would like to thank all of you who came early and entered. Can
we keep that practise going again for the Series.
Tonight’s race was Lucky Dip where we randomly asked participants to pick a
finishing position number and here are the eight winners – Kieran Ryan, Jimmy
Boland, Ritchie Meehan, David McGrath, James Peters, Cormac
Harte, Fergal Condon and Tommy Blanche. It was also
great to see everyone wearing a High Vis Jacket and
again thanks to everyone who gave us back the pins and numbers, we will recycle

The format next week is “Predict your finishing
time”. Here each athlete when entering gives his /her Predicted finishing time
and he/she then runs the 4k without a watch. The winners will be those athletes
that finish closest to their prediction, here everyone has a chance of winning
and that is the great fact about this series, the race formats are such that
everyone has a chance of winning and getting fit.
Again I am asking for help with the stewarding of this series, tonight we had
great help and the event ran very smoothly, so I am asking Club members and
regular 4k runners to give us a helping hand for just one night. Tonight we had
13 stewards for such an event, we would easily need 10
stewards each night. At the moment we have 8 for race 2 and 5 stewards for race
3. So we have room for some more stewards for these two races and I will keep
you updated as the Series progresses. Again well done with entries taken at the
Clonmel Vocational School, the Mall from 10 am
onwards and all going well I will see you all and the rest next Wednesday night
for Race 2.to everyone who competed last night, you got 2010 off to a great
start and if you want to we have the Tony O Connell 4 Miles this Sunday at 12
noon
