Busy Time Ahead for  Tipp Juvenile Athletes

 

Over 50 Tipperary athletes, from 11 different clubs, will be competing in the National Juvenile Indoor Championships, in Nenagh,  over the next two weekends (Sat & Sun 5th & 6th of April & the following weekend the 12 & 13th)  All have qualified for these finals by finishing in the first three at the recent Munster Championships


A number of athletes will be very busy indeed, having qualified in three or more events.  Top of this list is Chloe Fahy of Nenagh Olympic, competing in the Under 16 age group.   Chloe won the 60 meters hurdles, 60 meters and 200 meters sprints as well as the high and long jumps. In the process she set  new championship bests in both the 200 meters (26.29secs and the High Jump (1.61m)  Others with championship bests on their CV are Evan Lynch, of Clonmel, in the boys under 14 Walk & Clodagh Fitzerald,  of Carrick on Suir, in the Girls Under 13 60 meters hurdles  In the Girls Under 13, 600 meters, Clonmel, after a clean sweep of the medals in Munster’s, must fancy the chances of Megan O’Brien,  Roisin Cleary & Orlaith Moynihan making the rostrum.

The Bartley Sisters, Emer & Aoife, of Carrick on Suir, along with club mates Tara Fogarty & Shane O’Dwyer,   Lisa Kelly of Borrisokane and Michael Quilligan of Nenagh Olympic are down to compete in three events and will be serious medal contenders in all.

In the Relays there will be 6 teams, from the County,  two each from Carrick on Suir & Nenagh Olympic as well a teams from Borrisokane & Dundrum.
