Girls U/12 shine at Munster Inter County Relays
The Munster
Juvenile Inter County Relays took place on Sunday last, 18th January
in St.
Augustine’s College, Dungarvan, Co.Waterford. Despite a snowy start in Tipperary, the day improved as we got closer to Dungarvan but was still bitterly cold. Despite all this, Tipperary was very well represented on the day and
all 6 teams were rewarded with either gold, silver or bronze medals.
The Girls U/12 were the stars of the day winning gold in their relay. They
led from start to finish and were very convincing Munster winners of their event. Members of the
team were Ciara Cummins (Moyne),
Nicola Loughnane (Thurles Crokes), Kelly Ann Doyle
(Carrick on Suir), Saoirse
Mc Geever (Clonmel) & Aoife
Butler (Thurles Crokes). The Girls U/10 team managed to hold off Limerick in a
thrilling race to the line for 2nd place in their race and members
of the team were Jean Kelly (Dundrum), Lara O’Dwyer (Tipp Town), Katie Ryan (Thurles Crokes), Orlaith Cleary (St. Flannans)
& Aoife Doyle (Carrick on Suir).
In the Boys U/10, Tipperary won bronze with a team of Jack Fallon (Moycarkey Coolcroo), Sean Butler
(Thurles Crokes), Daniel Ryan (Moycarkey
Coolcroo), Mickie Stakelum (Thurles Crokes) & David Ryan (Moycarkey Coolcroo). The Boys
U/12 Tipperary team came home with silver medals for Patrick Cleary (Clonmel),
Damon Gregory (Clonmel), Aaron Ryan (Thurles Crokes) & Darren Prout (Coolquill). Tipperary also won silver medals in both the Girls
& Boys U/14 relays. The Girls U/14 team was made up of Claire Horgan (Clonmel), Orlaith
Moynihan (Clonmel), Megan O’ Brien (Clonmel) &
Laura Loughnane (Thurles Crokes). The Boys U/14 team
consisted of Paul Shanahan (Thurles Crokes), Reece Maher (Clonmel), Liam Landy (Carrick on Suir), Eoin Ryan (Newport), Evan Lynch (Clonmel) & Tom Moloney (Moyne). Congratulations
and well done to all our Tipperary athletes who ran great races on the day and
to all the coaches, parents & supporters who turned up to help prepare the
teams for their races & cheer them on. |
