Great
Performances in National Marathon
The Dublin City
marathon took place last Monday in cold but dry conditions. Competition was
keen with over 12,000 athletes competing. There was a good representation from
the Clubs within the County. Vasiliy Neumerzhitskily of Clonmel AC was the first County man to
finish. Vasiliy ran well when finishing 82nd
in 2 hours 47 mins 49 secs,
having reached halfway in 1 hour 22 mins 55 secs. Then we had Dermot Logue of Coolquill
running well when finishing 125th in 2 hours 52 mins
46 secs, having reached halfway in 1 hour 27 mins 12 secs. Dick O Gorman of
Clonmel AC ran well when finishing 171st in 2 hours 55 mins 45 secs just ten seconds
ahead of former club member Fergus McGirr. Then we
had Niall O Ceallaigh also dipping under the 3 hour
barrier when finishing 223rd in 2 hours 59 mins
33 secs after going through halfway in 1 hour 27 mins 17 secs. Then we had Kevin Maunsell of Clonmel also running very well when also
dipping under the 3 hour barrier. Kevin surprised many with this performance
which saw him finishing 233rd in 2 hours 59 mins
39 secs, having passed the halfway mark in 1 hour 28 mins 55 secs. . Then we had
Johnny Brunnock of Carrick on Suir
running well when, also dipping under the 3 hour barrier, finishing 244th
in 2 hours 59 mins 58 secs,
great running. Johnny went through halfway in 1 hour 29 misn
28 secs, great pacing. Then we had Angela McCann of
Clonmel running a brilliant race when finishing 322nd in 3 hours 4 mins 33 seconds. Angela went though halfway in 1 hour 33 mins 40 secs. Benny English of Dundrum showed that he has recovered well from injury with
this performance which saw him finishing 364th in 3 hours 6 mins 40 secs, having reached
halfway in 1 hour 34 mins 51 secs.
Dave McKevitt of Thurles also ran very well when
finishing 572nd in 3 hours 13 mins 53 secs and he went through halfway in 1 hour 32 mins 53 secs. Then we had Tommy
Cahill also running very well when finishing in 3 hours 13 mins
56 secs having reached halfway in 1 hour 43 mins 13 secs. Then we had Willie
Leahy also of Clonmel running well when finishing in 3 hours 15 mins 30 secs having passed
halfway in 1 hour 35 mins 38 secs.
Eoin McGrath of Clonmel also ran well when finishing
823rd in 3 hours 21 mins 17 secs, while reaching halfway in 1 hour 42 mins 7 secs. Then we had Martin Horgan of Clonmel running well when finishing in 1129th
in 3 hours 26 mins 14 secs,
while getting to halfway in 1 hour 48 mins 12 secs. Niall McCarthy of Clonmel also ran well when reaching
halfway in 1 hours 43 mins 51 secs
and then going on to finish in 1311th place in 3 hours 29 mins 20 secs. P J Holmes of Dundrum was 1325th in 3 hours 29 misn 2 secs, his halfway time was
1 hour 46 mins 28 secs.
Miriam O Gorman (Clonmel) ran well when finishing in 1918th place in
3 hours 40 mins 11 secs , with her halfway time
of 1 hour 47 mins 52 secs.
Then we had Neillie Hall of Ballynonty, another great
supporter of this race running well when finishing 2107th in 3 hours
41 mins 15 secs while
reaching halfway in 1 hour 50 mins 30 secs. Thomas Quinn (Clonmel) ran well when finishing 2561st
in 3 hours 46 mins 45 secs,
his halfway time was 1 hour 53 mins 19 secs. Then we had Deirdre O Shea
(Clonmel) running well when finishing 3339th in 3 hours 56 mins 46 secs while reaching halfway
in 1 hour 49 mins 21 secs.
Then we had Anthony Landers (Clonmel) running well when finishing 3745th
in 3 hours 59 mins 5 secs,
Anthony reached halfway in 2 hours 3 mins 9 secs, running the 2nd half of the marathon
faster. Noel Higgins on his debut will be very pleased with this performance
which saw him finishing 5317th in 4 hours 21 mins
51 secs. Noel reached halfway in 2 hours 8 mins 41 secs. Well done to all
the above mentioned athletes on such performances and well done on raising
large amounts of money for various Charities. |
