The Clonmel New Year 4K series Race 1

The New Year 4K series promoted by Clonmel Athletic Club got off to a great start with 93 athletes competing in ideal conditions. It was great to see 22 new participants in tonight’s race.
Tonight’s race format was “Lucky Dip” where there was a Draw on finishing positions and well done to all the winners.
Now that you have made a start make the commitment to continue the series and everyone that participates in at least four of these 7 races will receive a Special prize, so let that be your target for 2011. So well done again to everyone and especially the new comers, hopefully next week we will see some more new faces as well as welcoming back some of last year’s participants. Remember to go at your own pace and if you train regularly over a period of time you will get fitter.
For the Ladies the Club is setting up a Meet and Train group to train every Monday night. This group will cater for all levels of ability from walking to jogging. We are holding a meeting on next Monday, January 17th in the Bridge Club Centre, Cashel road Clonmel at 7 pm. The session will also include a training run on the 400m track so come along prepared to do a short run. For more information please contact Angela McCann at 0868364519.
The format next week is “Predict your Finishing Time”. In this event everyone predicts their finishing time when they are entering. They then run the distance without the watch or IPod. We would ask everyone to cooperate with this and not wear a watch everyone will get their finishing time by email on the night of the race. Also headphones are not allowed because the run is on open roads and runners need to be aware of traffic and hear the stewards.
