Clonmel New Year 4km Road Race Series – Race No. 3
Well done again on participating in another great race – we had 100 athletes starting out on what was an ideal night for running and it was great to see so many of you run faster than your target time. Your target time is your best time so far this year and we either randomly added or subtracted anything from one to 10 seconds to or from this time to arrive at your Target Time. On the result sheet you will see your target time and your actual time. So well done again and it was great to see some more new faces tonight.
Congrats to the winners tonight:
1st Eileen Prunty Hynes – who ran 20 mins 32 secs which was her Target Time, she got it spot on, well done Eileen. In 2nd place we had Martin Kennedy who ran 16 mins 30 secs, 5 seconds faster than his Target Time. 3rd was Liam Casey who ran 15 mins 19 secs, 7 seconds outside his Target Time. We had a tie for 4th place with Edwina O Connell running 18 mins 28 secs, 8 seconds faster than her Target Time, Katy Pyke who ran 22 mins 2 secs, 8 seconds outside her Target Time, Olga Kelly who ran 24 mins 12 secs, 8 seconds outside her Target Time and Emma Norris who ran 24 mins 23 secs, 8 seconds faster than her Target Time.
Just a reminder - anyone who does 4 out of the 7 races will receive a special prize, so let that be your target, tonight was race number 3, so keep the training going.
Tonight’s race went off at 7.03pm and that was great – so let’s all make the same effort and come along early again next week.
Race 4 format will be Predict your Time team event. We will divide all the entries into three groups, based on the Finishing positions, and there will a member from each group on the team. Let’s say we get 99 athletes three groups of 33. So one team will be, as they finish, athletes 1st, 31st 61st, another team will be 2nd 32nd and 62nd and so on. In this race format – No watches will be allowed and we ask everyone to abide by this rule.
Race four – we are looking for 3 Stewards to volunteer to help out at next week’s race. So can you let me know by return e mail if you would like to help, helping out will count as one of the four races for the Special Prize. Again I want to thank all the Stewards for their help again tonight.
