Double National Jumps Titles for Aoife

 

Day 3 & 4 of the Woodie’s DIY National Juvenile Outdoor Track & Field Championships took place on Saturday & Sunday last, 24th  & 25th  July in Tullamore. In the individual events, Tipperary athletes put in some really great performances to win 8 medals in total (5 gold, 2 silver & 1 bronze) which included 5 National titles. In the Relay competitions, Tipperary also fared well winning 4 sets of National Inter-County medals (3 gold & 1 bronze) & 3 sets of  National Inter-Club medals (1 Gold, 1 Silver & 1 Bronze) all of which were won by Nenagh Olympic A.C. In the Girls U/19, Aoife Bartley of Carrick-On-Suir A.C. put in terrific performances in both the Triple Jump & Long Jump to win gold & National titles in both events jumping 5.47m in the Long Jump & 11.12m in the Triple Jump. Her team-mate Shane O’Dwyer also won gold & a National Title in the Boys U/18 High Jump when he was in great form jumping 1.83m, 3 cm ahead of the silver medal position.  In the Boys U/17 1500m, Sean Tobin, Clonmel A.C. put in another fine display of middle distance running to win gold & a National title in a time of 4.07.96mins. He adds this to his National title in the 3000m at the beginning of the month. His brother, Anthony Tobin also had a good day winning silver in the Boys U/14 2000m Walk in a time of 10.29.58mins. Evan Lynch, Clonmel A.C., recent winner of the Boys 3000m Walk at the SIAB Schools International in Glasglow was again in sparkling form easily winning the Boys U/16 3000m Walk in a time of 13.56.4mins & another National title. In the Girls U/16 2000m Walk, Siobhan Hennessy of Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. who has improved steadily over the season put in a great performance to win her first National Walk medal, winning bronze in a time of 11.19.50mins. In the Girls U/14 1500m, Ciara Cummins, Moyne A.C. ran a great race to win National silver in a time of 4.53.53mins.

 

In the National Relay competitions on Sunday 25th July, Tipperary teams won 3 National titles & 1 set of Bronze medals in the Inter-County competition with Nenagh Olympic A.C. having a great day winning 3 sets of Inter-Club medals. Their Girls U/13 team won gold, with their Boys U/14 team winning silver & their Boys U/15 winning bronze.

Boys U.19 Gold Medal Winners:  Daniel Maher, Tipperary Town A.C.; Shane O’Dwyer and Shane Prout, both Carrick -On -Suir, and Jaco Oosthuysen, Clonmel A.C.
Boys U.15 Bronze Medal Winners:  Damien Gregory, Nenagh Olympic A.C., Conor Lynch, Newport A.C, Darren Prout, Carrick -On –Suir A.C ,Liam Finn & Michael Quilligan (sub), both Nenagh Olympic A.C.

Girls U/15 who came 8th: Hannah Dalton, Clodagh Fitzgerald & Leanne Prout, all Carrick-On-Suir A.C., Aisling O’Donnell & Deirbhile Ryan (sub) both Nenagh Olympic A.C.

Girls U/17 who came 6th: Carol Berkery & Megan Carey both Newport A.C., Caroline Morgan, Nenagh Olympic A.C., Colleen Kennedy, Carrick-On-Suir A.C. and Kelly Flaherty (sub) Nenagh Olympic A.C.

Boys U/17 who came 5th: Oisin Fitzpatrick, Nenagh Olympic A.C., Ben Browne, Clonmel A.C., Cormac Fahy, Carrick-On-Suir A.C, Patrick Lynch, Newport A.C. & Tom Hennessy (sub), Nenagh Olympic A.C.
