Nenagh & Moycarkey tops for Tipp in Munster Juvenile Indoors
The 1st weekend of the Munster Juvenile Indoor Championships for U/9 to U/13 took place last Saturday & Sunday in Nenagh Indoor Stadium. Amid fierce competition, Tipperary won 23 individual medals (5 gold, 8 silver & 10 bronze) & 7 sets of Relay medals (3 gold, 3 silver & 1 bronze) all won by Nenagh Olympic A.C. Nenagh Olympic were the top Tipperary club on the day winning 11 individual medals & 6 sets of Relay medals. Moycarkey Coolcroo followed in 2nd position with 6 individual medals, Clonmel had 4 individual medals & Tipp Town & Carrick-On-Suir had 1 individual medal each. Nenagh Olympic won the most individual medals for Tipperary in the girls competitions while Moycarkey Coolcroo hold the same honours for Tipperary in the boys competitions.
Ava Fennessy of Clonmel A.C. had a brilliant day & certainly made her mark on the Girls U/9 competitions winning gold in the Long Jump, Silver in the 60m & Bronze in the 300m. In the Girls U/13 competitions, Ciardha Maher of Nenagh Olympic competed well to win gold in the High Jump & bronze in the Long Jump while her team-mate,Leah Farnan won silver in the High Jump & bronze in the 600m. In the Boys U/10 competitions, Jack Ryan of Moycarkey Coolcroo had a good day to win silver in the Long Jump & bronze in the 60m. Title winners over the weekend were Ava Fennessy, Clonmel A.C. in the Girls U/9 Long Jump where she jumped 3.22m, 15cm ahead of her nearest rival; Alannah Deering, Nenagh Olympic A.C., in the Girls U/11 600m where she took a commanding lead from the beginning & was never in any doubt of claiming gold; Ciardha Maher, Nenagh Olympic A.C., who won gold in the High Jump with a jump of 1.31m; Jade Fahy, Nenagh Olympic A.C. whose throw of 8.26m (20cm ahead of her nearest rival) in the Girls U/13 Shot won her gold & Kyle Shelly, Moycarkey Coolcroo who won Tipperary’s only gold in the Boys competitions. Kyle jumped 2.82m to win his gold in the Boys U/9 Long Jump.
