Nenagh Olympic Girls & Moycarkey Boys Shine at County Championships
The beginning of our Outdoor Track & Field Season got off to a cracking start in Templemore on Sunday last, 2nd May for U/9 to U/12 athletes. It was great to see 17 different clubs from the county participating & we were delighted to see athletes from Slievardagh back on the track again. Our thanks to Emby Walsh, our County Outdoor Track & Field Secretary & all her wonderfully dedicated helpers for organising such a well run Championships & to all the Clubs who provided help on the day. Someone must have put the Child of Prague on their windowsill because the rain held off for the most part & the spectators were treated to some sunny spells while watching some spellbinding performances from our juvenile athletes. With 17 individual titles for both Boys & Girls up for deciding, it was Nenagh Olympic girls & Moycarkey Boys who won the most on the day. Nenagh Olympic Girls won 7 titles, Carrick-On-Suir were next with 4 titles, Clonmel won 3, Templemore won 2 & Tipperary Town won 1. In the Boys competition, Moycarkey boys won 8 titles followed by Tipperary Town with 3, Nenagh Olympic won 2 while Dundrum, Moyne, Clonmel & Carrick-On-Suir all won 1 each. In the Relays, Nenagh Olympic A.C. had a superb day winning 7 out of 8 Relays with Carrick-On-Suir A.C. girls U/12 denying them a perfect score. Lots of athletic talent was witnessed on the day with athletes like upcoming star, Ava Fennessey, Clonmel A.C. winning 3 out of 4 titles in the Girls U/9 (60m, 300m, LJ & silver in BT) & the Ryan brothers Daniel, David & Jack from Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. winning gold the Long Jumps U/10, 11 & 12, gold in the 60m U/10 & U/12 & silver in U/11 60m. Other athletes in sparkling form were :- Aoife Doyle of Carrick-On-Suir A.C who won five medals in the Girls U/11 competition, gold in 60m & BT, silver in 600m & High Jump & bronze in Long Jump; her team-mate, Shauna Twomey who won gold in the Girls U/12 60m & Long Jump & bronze in the Shot; Alannah Deering from Nenagh Olympic won double gold in the Girls U/11 600m & High Jump while Lauren Sheedy from Templemore A.C. won double gold in the Girls U/10 60m & Long Jump. Clodagh McIntyre made it a 1, 2, 3 in the Girls U/10 500m, 60m & Long Jump while Niamh Ryan from Moyne won double silver in the Girls U/10 500m & Long Jump & bronze in the 60m. Jack Fallon from Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. won double gold in the Boys U/11 600m & High Jump & silver in the Long Jump while Sean Hayes from Nenagh Olympic A.C. won double silver in the Boys U/10 60m & 500m & bronze in the Long Jump. Ciaran Lloyd from Moyne A.C. made it a 1, 2, 3, in the Boys U/9 Long Jump, 300m & 60m with Kyle Shelly, Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. winning double silver in the Boys U/9 Long Jump & Ball Throw.
