To encourage you to keep the training going we will be promoting the Clonmel AC 4 Mile road race on Stephen’s Day at 12 noon, entries will be taken at the Clonmel Vocational School, the Mall from 10 am onwards that morning. The race will start at the Loreto Convent and the athletes will go down the Coleville Road – Ferryhouse – Bulmers Roundabout – Waterford Road – Davis road and finish outside Barlo Motors. Also we will resume in the New Year with another Series of 7 races over the 4K circuit starting on Wednesday 12th January. To help us with this series we would welcome your views on the different race formats we used in this series and let us know your favourite and least favourite format and we may even try one or two new formats in the next series. We would be delighted to hear from you, let’s make it better. It is also planned to start a Meet and Train group for Women in the New Year, meeting at the Track in the Dr Pat O Callaghan Sports Complex on Monday nights, again all levels of fitness will be catered for – be they Walkers, Joggers and Fun runners. We hope to send out more details during the week, so start spreading the word – New Year’s Resolution – Lets Walk, Run our way to Get Fit. Tonight’s race format was where you had to run as close as possible to your Predicted Time and it proved a great success. We had 41 athletes running faster than what they predicted, which is great to see. I hope to do a booklet of results on this series showing which race each athlete achieved a PB and all the performances they achieved in the Series. Well done to Fergal Condon, Willie Fogarty, John Tobin, Eamon Crowley, T J O Loughlin and John Laste on being the 1st 6 pass the line after the clock hit zero seconds. The Club would like to thank Outfield Sports, Carrick on Suir for sponsoring a €100 voucher which was raffled among everyone who participated in this year’s series be they athlete or steward and the Lucky winner was FERGAL CONDON. The Club would like to thank all the stewards who helped out during the Series such help was deeply appreciated by everyone. Seasonal Greetings to everyone and don’t forget to set Athletic Goals for 2011 and may you achieve them in your own time. By Niall O'Sullivan |
