Clonmel Fun Run (4km)  Race 3

Well done – another great race and it was great to see 89 athletes competing, a speedy recovery to Louise Grant who got injured during tonight’s run. The selected times for the prizes tonight was randomly selected by the stewards during the race and the times drawn out randomly are highlighted on the results sheet and the athlete that finished closest to these times won a Prize.  Well done to the prize winners – Robbie Condon, Elaine Goldsberry, Stephen Hunter, Dan O Keeffe, Maurice Boland, Brian Looram, Barry Horgan, David Hogan and Philly Ryan.
Weather permitting the race format next week will be the Handicap race. Here the organising committee will give each athlete a starting time based on their PBs to date. This usually results in the slowest athlete going off first and the fastest athlete going last. Here athletes can wear watches and this race format produces many PBs.

Just to let you know the Clonmel Athletic Club will once again be organising the Inter Firms / Business 4 mile road league, starting on Wednesday 31st March. These races are based on you matching your predicted finishing time and not where you finish in the race. You set your own target time. For instance Niall O Sullivan might predict 40 minutes and he could run, if he was fit, 40 mins 1 sec, he would score one point for his team and he might finish 120th in the race. The team with the lowest points wins, there can be 5 on a team with three to score each night. Now is the time to be organising your team. I will have posters at next week’s race for this event.
Also a date for your Diary – Clonmel AC 10K road race – Sunday May 8th – 2 pm  - it looks like we have a new course for you, keep up the training

Regards
Niall O’Sullivan
