National Juvenile Indoor Championships

(Nenagh 4th 5th 12th & 13th April 2008)

 

200m & 400m  Double for Dara Kervick, Carrick-on-Suir

 

Over the past two weekends the Juvenile All Ireland Indoor Championships were held in Nenagh.  Competition proved to be very exciting with excellent performances by a number of Tipp athletes. Competing in the under 18 age group,  Dara Kervick, of Carrick-on-Suir, had a great championship winning both  the 200m and the 400m. His time of 51.77,   in the 400 meters, knocked over 2 seconds off his personal best.

 

There was also wins for Clodagh Fitzgerald, Carrick on Suir, in the 60mH U.13

Evan Lynch, Clonmel, U.14 in the1000mWalk;

Chloe Fahy, Nenagh in theU.16 Hurdles;

Valerie Mitchell, Newport in theU.17 Shot Putt;

Amanda Nevin, Borrisokane in theU.18 High Jump and

Keith Maher, Thurles Crokes in the U.19 1500m.

Boys U.12 Michael Quilligan, Nenagh was 3rd  in the 60m Sprint with a time of 8.73. 

 

Girls U.13 Clodagh Fitzgerald, Carrick-on-Suir won the 60mHurdles in a time of 10.20.  Eimear Bartley, C-On-Suir, was 2nd in the Shot Putt with a throw of 9.50m.

 

Boys U.14 Evan Lynch, Clonmel won the 1000m Walk in a time of 5.28sec.

Eamonn Costello, Borrisokane was 3rd in a time of  5.50.

 

Girls U.15 High Jump Caroline Morgan, Nenagh was Joint 3rd with  a jump of 1.40m.

 

Boys U.16 Shane O’Dwyer, Carrick-on-Suir was 3rd in his 200m in a time of 24.95.

 

Girls U.16 Chloe Fahy, Nenagh, won the 60m Hurdles in a time of 9.21 and

was 2nd in the 200m in a time of 26.58 and 2nd in the Long Jump with a P.B.

jump of 5.38m.  Tara Fogarty, Carrick-on-Suir was 3rd in the 60m Hurdles.

 

Girls U.17 Valerie Mitchel, Newport won the Shot Putt with a P.B. Throw of 11.50m.

 

Boys Under 18  Dara Kervick, Carrick-on-Suir had a convincing win when

he won the 400m in a time of 51.77 and he won the 200m in a time of 21.89. 

Dean Looby, Clonmel was 2nd in the 1500mWalk in a time of 7.30.51. 

Stephen O’Riordan, Templemore was 3rd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 10.66m.

 

Girls U.18 Amanda Nevin, Borriskane won the High Jump with a jump of 1.50m

and was 3rd in the Long jump with a jump of 4.80m. Cliona Ryan, Borrisokane was 3rd in the 300m in a time of 43secs.  Jennifer Carroll also Borrisokane was 3rd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 9.91m.

 

Boys U.19 Keith Maher, Thurles Crokes led from the start of the 1500m to win

with a fine time of  4.10sec he was 2nd in the 800m in a time of 1.58.59.

 

Girls U.19 Lisa Kelly, Borrisokane was 2nd in the High Jump with a jump of 1.45m and

2nd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 10m18.

 

Relays In the Relay Finals  the Girls U.12  4 x 100 Nenagh team  had a dead heat with Swinford in a time of 59.6.The Nenagh  team was  Laura Costello, Ashling O’Donnell, Ciardha Maher and Emma Hennesy.  The Nenagh Boys U.12 were  clear winners in a time of 58.56 with a team of Michael Quilligan, Shane Hennessey, Killian Carr and Michael O’Donnoghue and their boys U.13 won Bronze Medals with a team of Liam Finn, Michael Qulligan, Shane Hennessy and Miceal Hogan.

 

Munster  &National Awards

Congratulations to Alvy Carragher, Nenagh on winning the All Ireland Sport Award recently.  Alvy excels in Middle and Long Distance races.  At the Munster awards  Chloe Fahy, Nenagh and Shane O’Dwyer, Carrick-on-Suir were the recipients of awards.  Both excel in Multiple  Events from sprints, jumps and hurdles.
