There will be Turbo Javelin for Boys & Girls U/9 to U/12. These
ages will have Turbo Javelin at National level (U/9 to U/11 athletes as
a Team event) & U/12
athletes (as an individual event) & rules &

note that Girls U/12 60m & Boys U/13 80m sprints will take place on

Munster Junior & U/23 T & F Championships
The Munster
Junior & U/23 T & F Championships were held on Sunday 28th
April in Cork I.T. Tipperary was represented by athletes from Nenagh
Olympic A.C, Clonmel A.C., Borrisokane A.C., Newport A.C. & Thurles
Crokes A.C., In total, the County won 22 individual medals (9 gold, 5
silver & 8 bronze) & 2 sets of gold medals won by Nenagh
Olympic A.C. in the Junior Men's 4 x 100m & 4 x 400m Relays.

Munster Juvenile Combined Events Championships
The County was strongly represented by 29
athletes
form 5 Clubs (Nenagh Olympic A.C., Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C., Clonmel
A.C., Moyne A.C. & Carrick-On-Suir A.C.) & recorded a win of 9
medals (5 gold, 1 silver & 3 bronze) at the Munster Juvenile
Combined Events Championships in Cork I.T. on Sunday 28th April. Two
County Clubs, Nenagh Olympic A.C. & Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. came to
the fore with Nenagh winning 3 gold, 1 silver & 1 bronze &
Moycarkey taking 2 gold & 2 bronze. Daniel Ryan, Moycarkey Coolcroo
A.C. also set a new Munster record in the Boys U/15 80m Hurdles with
his time of 11.72m.

Ballynonty A.C. are running their popular annual Summer Series of Road Races in Ballynonty on the dates below:-

Mile Road Race, Tues 7th May - 2 Mile Road Race, Tues 14th May - 3 Mile
Road Race, Tues 21st May - 4 Mile Road Race & Tues 28th May - 4 x 1
Mile Road Relays.
All races will start at 8pm with the exception of the Road Relays which will have a 7.30pm start.

Tobin makes "B" Standard for European Juniors
Sean Tobin, Clonmel
A.C. has attained the "B" Standard for the 1500m for the European
Junior Championships later this year. Read more about all Irish

Record numbers at County Schools T & F
The
County Secondary Schools T & F Championships took place in
Templemore Track on Wednesday 24th April. Despite the damp conditions,
a record number of 440 athletes from 25 County schools took part with
the 100m sprints & 800m races proving the most popular events on
the day.

Win for Vaughan Witts at Spring Throws Competition
Aoife Vaughan
Witts, Borrisokane A.C. recorded a win in the Women's 3kg Hammer
competition at the inaugural Athletics Ireland Spring Throws
Competition in Athlone on Sunday 21st April.

Wins for Oosthuysen & Bartley at IUAA Championships
Tipperary athletes,
Jaco Oosthuysen, Clonmel A.C. & Aoife Bartley, Carrick-On-Suir A.C.
were medal winners at the recent IUAA T & F Championships in Cork
on 12th April. Jaco recorded a gold medal win in the Javelin while
Aoife won silver in the Long Jump, bronze in the High Jump & 4th
place in the Triple Jump.

Gleeson & Keane win Novice "B" Road Titles
There were
wins for both Brigid Gleeson, Moyne A.C. & Donal Keane, Dundrum
A.C. at the County Novice "B" Road Championships in Moyne on Sunday
14th April. In the team competitions, Moyne A.C. took the Ladies'
title with Dundrum A.C. taking the Men's title.

Templemore Open Sports Day
There was great
competition in a wide variety of events at the Templemore A.C. Open
Sports Day on Sunday 7th April in Templemore Track. Athletes travelled
from as far away as Meath, Dublin, Cork, Clare, Waterford, Kilkenny,
Limerick & Laois to take part. Thanks to all our County Clubs who
turned up to support the event. Well done to Templemore A.C. for a top
quality event & we look forward to attending many more in the years
to come.

New National Record for Nenagh Olympic A.C.
Nenagh
Olympic A.C.'s Girls U/14 4 x 200m Relay team claimed gold & set a
new National Record in their event at the Woodie's DIY AAI Juvenile
Indoor Relays in AIT Arena, Athlone on Saturday 6th April. There were
also National silver medals for Carrick-on-Suir
A.C. in the Girls U/17 4 x 200m & National Bronze for their Girls
U/18 team as well as National Bronze for the Nenagh Olympic A.C. Boys
U/12 4 x 100m team. Sean Glasheen, Tipperary Town A.C. also won
Bronze in the Boys U/16 Shot Putt. Congratulations to all.

SIAB Schools Cross Country International
Well done to Darren Dunne, St. Joseph's Borrisoleigh
& Killian Cullagh, Nenagh Vocational Schools, both athletes with
Nenagh Olympic A.C. who competed on the Irish Intermediate Boys team at
the SIAB Schools Cross Country International in Dinefwr Park,
Llandeilo, Wales on Saturday 23rd March. Darren finished 17th overall
in 20.46 with Killian in 31st place in 22.22. The Irish team finished
4th overall on the day on 98 points behind Scotland in 3rd place on 82
points, Wales in 2nd place on 80 points & England in gold medal
position on 46 points.

McCann Wins Munster Master Women's Championships
Angela McCann, Clonmel A.C. won the Master Women's 4 Mile Road Championships in Moyglass, Co. Tipperary on Sunday 24th March.

Ryan & Murphy Strike Gold Again
It was another exciting day of competition at the
National Juvenile Indoor Championships in AIT Arena on Sunday 24th
March. Daniel Ryan, Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. continued his winning
streak in the Boys U/15 competitions by taking gold in the 60m Hurdles
with a new National Record of 8.5h & gold in the Long Jump setting a second National Record of 6.14m.
His brother, David also leapt to victory & a National title in the
Boys U/14 Long Jump with a jump of 5.06m. Phoebe Murphy, Clonmel A.C.
cruised to victory in the Girls U/16 200m adding another gold medal to
the one she won on Saturday in the 60m with Sharlene Mawdsley, Newport
A.C. taking the silver medal in the same event. Joseph McEvoy, Nenagh
Olympic A.C. also won silver in the Boys U/13 High Jump clearing 1.40m.
There were bronze medal wins for Lauren Moylan, Nenagh Olympic A.C. in
the Girls U/13 60mH, Michael Quilligan, Nenagh Olympic A.C. in the Boys
U/17 60mH & Orla Winston, Clonmel A.C. in the Girls U/12 Long Jump
with a jump of 4m.

fine master class in sprinting at the National Juvenile Indoor
Championships in AIT Arena on Saturday 23rd March. Ryan took the
National title in the Boys U/15 in a time of 7.31, a new pb, while
Murphy won the Girls U/16 National title crossing the line in a fine
time of 7.88. Other Tipperary athletes who shone were Evan Lynch,

Cullagh & Dunne to represent Ireland
Killian
Cullagh (Nenagh Vocational School) & Darren Dunne (St. Joseph's,
Borrisoleigh), athletes from Nenagh Olympic A.C. will represent their
schools & Ireland at the SIAB Schools Cross Country International
in Wales on Saturday 23rd March. Both boys are Tipperary's only
representatives having finished 8th & 9th in the Intermediate race
at the recent AVIVA All-Ireland Schools Cross Country. Good luck to
both boys who don the Irish singlet for the first time.

Nenagh Olympic A.C. Show Class at Munster Relays
The Munster
Juvenile Indoor Relay Championships took place in Nenagh Indoor Stadium
on Saturday 9th March. Tipperary took home 13 sets of medals in total
(8 gold, 2 silver & 3 bronze) with Nenagh Olympic A.C. showing
their dominance at this event winning a total of 6 gold & Munster
titles, 1 silver & 2 bronze & setting a new CBP in the Boys
U/10. Carrick-On-Suir A.C. won 3 sets of medals (gold, silver &
bronze) with Templemore A.C. winning 1 set of gold medals in the Girls
U/9 & setting a new CBP.

Silver for McCann at Munster Senior Road Championships
Angela McCann,
Clonmel A.C. was first home for Tipperary at the Munster Road
Championships in Newtownshandrum, Co. Cork on Sunday 10th March. Angela
finished 2nd overall & in the Senior Women's race behind Lizzie
Lee, Leevale A.C. Next home for Tipp was Maria Fitzgibbon, Thurles
Crokes A.C. in 12th place overall (11th in Senior race & 5th in
Novice) with Aine Roche & Donna Nagle, Clonmel A.C. 14th & 35th
overall (& 13th & 24th in the Senior competition). Shane
Mullaney, Thurles Crokes A.C. finished 20th overall (& 16th in the
Senior Men's race) with Owen Fanning, Ballynonty A.C. 58th overall
(& 33rd in the Senior race).

the Boys U/14 competition & Martin Kehoe, Carrick-On-Suir A.C. won
bronze in the same competition making it a 1,2 & 3 for Tipperary.

Magnificent Win for Tobin at AVIVA Schools
The AVIVA
All-Ireland Schools Cross Country Championships were held in the
University of Ulster, Jordanstown on Saturday 9th
March. Sean Tobin, High School Clonmel put in a terrific performance to
win gold in the Senior Boys race with the High School Clonmel finishing
2nd overall in the team competition with Michael Carey in 10th place,
Evan Egan in 31st & Shane Moloney in 50th place. Killian Cullagh
& Darren Dunne placed individual 8th & 9th in the Inter-Boys
race with the Loreto, Clonmel 3rd in the Senior Girls race.

These
Games were held on Tuesday 5th March 2013 in Nenagh Indoor Stadium.
Tipperary athletes fared well winning 23 individual medals (10 gold, 5
silver & 8 bronze) & 2 sets of Relay medals (St. Mary's Newport
& Ursuline Thurles). Top County athletes were Daniel Ryan, CBS
Thurles who won 3 gold in the Junior Boys 60m, 60mH & LJ, Sharlene
Mawdsley, St. Mary's Newport who won 2 gold in the Junior Girls 60m
& 60m Hurdles, Emma Hennessy, St. Mary's Newport, gold in High Jump

Lacey & Hughes Win County Intermediate Titles
The County
Intermediate Road Championships were held in Two Mile Borris on Sunday
3rd March. Johanna Lacey, Clonmel A.C. added the Ladies' Intermediate
title to her Novice title that she won a few weeks ago with
Patrick Hughes, Thurles Crokes A.C. taking the title in the Men's race.
Clonmel A.C. won the Ladies' team title with a hard to beat Thurles
Crokes A.C. team taking the Men's title.

Sprints Workshop
A
very successful Sprints
Workshop with some of Tipperary & Munster's top athletes was held
on Wednesday 27th February in Moyne Pavilion from
7pm to 9pm. Brilliant coaching was given by Shane McCormack with
the aid of one of his top athletes, David Hynes who is currently the
fastest man in Ireland over 60m & 100m. Both gave great advice
& demonstrations on sprint drills for speed & acceleration
& core exercises over the course of the workshop.

National Junior Title for Tobin
Congratulations
to Sean Tobin, Clonmel A.C. who took the National title in the Junior
Boys race at the Woodie's DIY AAI Junior Cross Country Championships in
Charleville Estate, Tullamore on Sunday 24th February. Sean put in a
fine performance to win gold 8 seconds clear of the silver medalist,
Hugh Armstrong, Ballina A.C. Sean's team-mates Michael Carey (6th in
20.12), Evan Egan (27th in 22.14) & Aidan Cremin (35th in 23.26)
also competed very well with Clonmel A.C. finishing 5th overall in the
Inter-Club competition on 69 points.

National Senior & Inter-Club Cross Country Championships
The Woodie's DIY AAI Senior & Inter Club Cross
Country Championships took place in Charleville Estate, Tullamore on
Sunday 24th February. In
the Senior Women's race, Siobhan O'Doherty, Borrisokane A.C. finished
in 7th place overall with Kevin Maunsell, Clonmel A.C. finishing in 6th
place in a time of 39.46 with his team-mate Niall McCormack in 39th

National Juvenile Inter-County Relays
The Woodie's DIY
AAI Juvenile Inter-County Relays were held in Charleville Estate,
Tullamore on Sunday 24th February. Tipperary's Boys U/12 team of Aaron
Fogarty, Eoin Purcell, Patrick Staklum, Thurles Crokes A.C., Jack
Hickey, Moyne A.C. & Michael O'Brien, Newport A.C. finished 6th

Ryan & Prout Excel at Munster Championships
The Munster
U/14 to U/19 Indoor Championships took place in Nenagh on Saturday 23rd
& Sunday 24th February. Top athlete for Tipperary over the weekend
was Daniel Ryan, Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. who had an outstanding competition winning gold medals in all 5
of his events (60m, 60mH, LJ, HJ & Shot) setting 3 new Championship Best Performances in the 60m,
60m Hurdles & Long Jump & just missing the Shot Putt record by 14cm. Darren Prout, Carrick-On-Suir A.C.also had
a terrific Championships winning 4 gold medals in the Boys U/17 60m,
60m Hurdles, 200m & Long Jump. Evan Lynch, Clonmel A.C. broke Jamie
Costin's 1995 Munster record in the Boys U/19 1500m Walk & Clonmel
A.C. & Templemore A.C. dominated Munster in the Walks competitions.

The County
Cross Country Trials took place on Sunday 17th February in Thurles
Crokes Complex. Well done to all the winners who will go forward to
represent Tipperary at the National Community Games Finals in Athlone
at the end of May.

22 Munster Medals for Tipp
The Munster U/9
to U/13 Indoor Championships was held on Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th
February in Nenagh Indoor Stadium. Tipperary athletes won 22 medals in
total (7 gold, 5 silver & 10 bronze). Miriam Daly,
Carrick-On-Suir A.C. set a new Munster record in the Girls U/13 60m
Hurdles when she ran 10.2 while Joseph McEvoy, Nenagh Olympic A.C.
equalled the Munster record of 1.45m in the Boys U/13 High Jump.

Gold for Ryan at National Junior Championships
Deirbhile Ryan,
Nenagh OlympicA.C. won gold & a National Title in the Junior
Women's Triple Jump at the Woodie's DIY AAI Junior & U/23 Indoor
Championships in AIT Arena on Sunday 10th February. Ryan was
Tipperary's only gold medal winner & she also placed 4th in the
Shot Putt. Other Tipperary athletes who came to the fore on the day

National Senior Indoor Championships
The Woodie's
DIY AAI Senior Indoor Championships took place on Saturday 16th &
Sunday 17th February in AIT Arena. Best of the Tipperary athletes was
Kevin Maunsell, Clonmel A.C. who put in a fine run to finish in 4th
place in the 1500m final. Niall McCormack, Clonmel A.C also finished
6th in the 3000m final with Evan Lynch, Clonmel A.C. 8th in the Walk.

Ryan Brothers Take Gold at National Juvenile Combined Events

AAI Juvenile Combined Events Championships took place in the newly
built & magnificent surroundings of AIT Arena, Athlone on Saturday
26th January. Tipperary had 3 medal winners on the day with brothers,
David & Daniel Ryan, Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. taking gold &
National titles in the Boys U/14 & U/15 competitions &
their team-mate, Jack Fallon winning bronze in the Boys U/14
competition.

Nenagh Olympic A.C. Hosts Successful Open Juvenile Competition
Nenagh Olympic A.C. hosted a very successful
Juvenile Indoor Open Competition for U/9 to U/12 athletes on Saturday
19th January. With 23 Clubs from throughout Munster & further
afield taking part, competition was high with all present being
treated to a great display of athletics from our up & coming
juvenile athletes.

The Munster Junior & Senior Cross Country Championships were held in Limerick Racecourse on Sunday 13th January 2013.
Siobhan O'Doherty, Borrisokane A.C. took the Munster title in the
Senior Women's race with Kevin Maunsell, Clonmel A.C. placing 2nd in
the Senior Men's race & Orlaith Moynihan, Clonmel A.C. taking
bronze in the Junior Women's race. The Senior Men's team placed 4th
overall in the Inter-County competition.

Wins for Sergio & Angela at Clonmel A.C. Christmas 4 Miler
Clonmel A.C. hosted another very successful St.
Stephen's Day 4 Mile Road Race with just under 400 athletes taking
part. There were wins for Sergio Ciobanu, Clonliffe Harriers A.C. &
Angela McCann, Clonmel A.C. with other Clonmel athletes featuring
strongly in the different age categories.

on Sunday 16th December. There were wins for Dympna Ryan, Dundrum A.C.

Senior Men's title. Cliona Doyle, Clonmel A.C. won the Junior Women's
title with Dundrum A.C. winning the Senior Ladies team prize, Clonmel
A.C. the Senior Men's "A" team title & Dundrum A.C. the Senior
Men's "B" title.

& Michael Carey, Clonmel A.C. (5th Boys U/19) who all won
individual medals at the National Juvenile Uneven Age Cross Country
Championships in Adamstown, Co. Wexford on Sunday 9th December.
Inter-Club medals were won by Clonmel A.C. Girls U/17 team of Orlaith
Moynihan, Aoife Laste, Laura Tobin & Megan O'Brien.
Inter-Provincial medals were also won by Conor Cadell, Rachel Butler,
Emma Fagan, Newport A.C., Jack Fallon, Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C., Orlaith Moynihan, Ciara Cummins
& Killian Cullagh, Nenagh Olympic A.C. & Michael Carey. Well

DIY AAI Novice Cross Country Championships
took place on Sunday 9th December in Adamstown, Co.
Wexford. The Tipperary Novice Women's team had an excellent day to win
National Silver in the Inter-County competition with the Tipperary
Novice men's team placing 4th in the Inter-County competition &
Dundrum A.C. placing 11th in the Inter-Club competition.

County Honours for Ursuline Thurles, Scoil Ruain & St. Ailbhe's
The County
Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships took place in Thurles
Crokes Complex on Wendesday 5th December. Best Overall Girls Schools
was the Ursuline Convent, Thurles with Scoil Ruain, Killenaule winning
the best overall Boy's school for the first time & St. Ailbhe's
Tipperary Town taking the honours in the Co-Ed Schools Competition.

Munster Juvenile "B" & Masters Cross Country Championships
The Munster
Juvenile "B" & Masters Cross Country
Championships took place on Sunday 2nd December in New
Market-On-Fergus, Co. Clare. Tipperary Juveniles did very well
winning 22 individual medals, 4 sets of Inter-Club medals & 7 sets
of Inter-County medals. In the Masters competition, Willie O'
Dwyer, Dundrum A.C. was 3rd overall & 2nd in the O/40 category with
Pat Grace, Nenagh Olympic A.C. 1st in the O/45 category &
Eddie Cahalane, Coolquill A.C. 2nd in the O/65 category. Dundrum A.C.
placed 3rd in the O/35 Team Competition with Tipperary winning Silver
in the Inter-County 0/35 competition.

Ryan Competes Well at AVIVA Schools International Combined Events
Daniel Ryan
(Thurles CBS/Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C.) finished an excellent 6th place
& 1st for Ireland in the Junior Boys competition at the AVIVA
Schools International Combined Events Championships in Glasglow on
Saturday 1st December. He was Tipperary's
only representative on the Irish teams, he set 4 new PBs on the
day & is still under the age again in 2013. See Full

Tipp Wins National Inter-County Medals
Tipperary Ladies'
& Men's teams won National honours in Tattersalls, Rathoath, Co.
Meath on Sunday 25th November at the National Inter-County
Championships when the Ladies' took historic Bronze medals & the
Men won Silver.
